PANJIM: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued heavy to very heavy rainfall warning to Goa for the next four days. The State has been witnessing heavy rains since Saturday. In last 48 hours, State received three inches of rainfall.
“Monsoon has been active over Goa during last 24 hours and in the present conditions, it is expected that it will continue for the next three to four days,” the IMD has said in its warning.
“Heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at few places and extremely heavy rainfall is expected at isolated places over the entire State,” IMD said. The heavy rain warning is in place till September 21.
Since Saturday, the rainfall played havoc in the State with almost every region receiving rains. The south-west monsoon normally withdraws from the coast by end of September.
On Sunday, State recorded 1.57 inches of rains, with day and night temperature dropping below normal. The total seasonal rainfall has touched the 80-inch mark, much below the average rainfall the State witnesses.
