PANJIM: The Cabinet meeting scheduled for Tuesday will discuss a proposal to issue warning to government employees who got jobs by allegedly submitting false documents cautioning them to submit resignations from the posts.
The Cabinet meeting will also discuss among other names, the name of controversial ex-registrar of Goa University Mohan Sangodkar to take over as Goa Public Service Commission Chairman on a temporary basis, till a regular chairman is appointed, sources said.
Sangodkar had been in the eye of the storm regarding the addressing of students at Goa University by Rahul Gandhi and Manohar Parrikar, then Opposition leader, had demanded his sacking for his partisan role under the then Congress government of Digambar Kamat.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar speaking at the inauguration of the Lokutsav, called for making traditional occupations attractive so that Goans would not feel shy to take up these occupations.
Reminiscing, that during his youth there were a lot of hair cutting shops with local barbers. Parrikar observed that today it is not the case and one mostly sees people from other states dominating the profession. However, he said, that after they had labelled it as Air Conditioned Beauty Saloon he had noticed during the Chief Minister Rojgar Yojna that there were locals who had applied to set up such establishments.
“In all professions respect is necessary. Modern techniques need to be adopted,” he said, arguing that for people to come and watching local cultural activities, festivals such as Lokutsav are necessary.
