MANORA-RAIA: CAC Cansaulim got the better of Curtorim Gymkhana 6-5 via the tie-breaker to enter into the semi-finals of the YC Manora inter-village football tournament played, at Manora ground, Raia, on Sunday.
It was Curtorim Gymkhana’s goal-scoring machine Milagres Fernandes who made two goal scoring attempts by taking close range shots from the top of the Cansaulim box but Cansaulim keeper Aliskey Barbosa saved by the latter’s shots in the second and sixth minutes respectively.
Later in the eighth minute, Cansaulim’s Chadwick Furtado took control of the ball from Kenneth Da Costa and dribbled past Manuel Castanha and shot from the left flank but Curtorim keeper Johnson Bhagot palmed the ball away to safety.
As the match progressed, in the 30th minute, Curtorim’s Savio Fernandes took a power-packed shot but failed to convert.
In the second half, Cansaulim netted the opener through Aaron Fernandes long range shot in the 49th minute, but the joy was short-lived as Curtorim’s Joshly Gomes equalised in the 53rd minute.
In the tie-breaker, CAC Cansaulim netted through Kenneth Da Costa, Roshwell Figueired, Melody Correia, Melwyn Gama and Sanfan Vaz while Aliston Fernandes, Liswan Castanha, Aliston Fernandes and Amar Estebeiro scored for Curtorim Gymkhana.
CAC Cansaulim will now meet Youth Club of Manora in the semi-final on August 17.
