Velip has also called upon the government to extend financial support to organic farming in the state by increasing the support price of agricultural commodities.
Addressing the media to announce the 21st anniversary celebration of the Adarsh Krishi Sahakari Saunstha on September 5, Velip said there exist around 2,500 certified organic cashew farmers in the state. “Our society has tied up with Achal Industries, Mangalore, in the research and promotion of cashew feni. We will provide storage space as well as procure cashew apples from farmers for mechanised distillation”, Velip said, adding that the society will provide the best rates for farmers and ensure timely payment.
