CANACONA: One person was arrested by Canacona police on Monday for being found in possession of substance suspected to be ganja, at Gulem in Canacona.
Twenty-six-year-old Rajiv Lingutkar, resident of Fradilem in Navelim was arrested by Canacona police under section 20(b)(ii)(A) of NDPS act for possessing a narcotic substance suspected to be ganja.
He was allegedly found with the narcotic substance when he was intercepted near a hotel on the national highway at Gulem in Canacona.
He was arrested and released on bail in the evening by JMFC, Canacona.
Sources at the police station said the retrieved substance would be sent for verification at FDA lab in Bambolim, and if found guilty he would have to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a term which may extend to six months, or with fine, which may extend to Rs 10,000, or with both.
Further investigation is on.
