MARGAO: The Margao Municipal Council (MMC) coordination committee under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, at a meeting on Thursday, discussed the appointment of a convenor to plan and undertake activities under the mission and to take up cleanliness activities in the city regularly.
The mission also has an agenda of organising counselling for school children about cleanliness and motivating schools to undertake weekly cleanliness drives in nearby areas. The committee has also decided to organise awareness campaigns in the town. Governor Of Goa representative officer Allen D’Sa, MMC chief officer Y B Tawde, chairperson Babita Angle, Superintendent of Police Shekhar Prabhudessai and committee members were present at the meet.

The GoG representative has taken note of the discussions and will submit a report on the same to the office. He said, “Swachh Bharat is a mission that has to educate and tell us to clean our area first. When my own area is cleaned first, then only the country will be clean.”
