35-Year-Old Murder Case Solved: Maina-Curtorim Police Arrest Accused in Raia, Goa

MARGAO: In a significant breakthrough, the Maina-Curtorim Police apprehended a murder accused, who had been on the run for 35 years.

The accused was arrested in Raia, following coordinated efforts with the Lodhika Police Station, Rajkot, Gujarat.

The accused, identified as Basappa, a native of Arakera K, Khalsa, Laxmipur in Yadgir, Karnataka, was wanted in connection with a 1990 murder case registered under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Acting on crucial intelligence, the Maina-Curtorim Police team managed to trace the accused and arrested him on February 24.

According to police sources, Basappa had been working in Rajkot at the time of the crime. After committing the offence, he fled to Tamil Nadu before relocating to Karnataka, where he sold his property. Eventually, he settled in Raia, Goa, where he is believed to have lived for over a decade. He is reportedly married with children.

Following his arrest, the Rajkot Police were notified and have since taken custody of the accused for further investigation and legal proceedings.
