MARGAO: Upon the directions of the High Court and thereafter from the Goa State Pollution Control Board, South Goa District Magistrate Jyoti Kumari issued an order to all deputy collectors to carry out regular inspections and monitoring of all establishments in the district to ensure that the Provisions of the Noise Rules, 2000, is strictly complied with.

South Goa District Magistrate and District Collector Jyoti Kumari on Friday issued the above orders.
“It is noted that the noise rules are being violated by certain establishments in South Goa, which include playing music beyond 10pm, exceeding permissible noise limits and bursting of firecrackers during night time,” stated the order. The order has instructed deputy collectors to ensure that no outdoor music is played beyond 10pm by wedding organisers, establishments or event management agencies and in case of such violation, has warned that all musical instruments, DG sets, public address systems, shall be seized by the inspection team and an FIR shall be filed against the violators with the police station concerned.
“No permission shall be granted for the playing of music beyond 10 pm, except on the days notified vide order February 2, 2000 by the Department of Environment and Climate change. Under any circumstances, no permission to play music beyond 12 midnight shall be granted,” the order stated. The District Collector has also asked her subordinates to file a weekly report in respect of the compliance of the aforementioned directions by 4pm every Friday.
