MARGAO: Viraj Puranik of Partagal-Canacona clinched top spot in the 3rd Sita Pandhari Raikar memorial chess tournament organized by
In all, 73 chess players from Canacona participated. In the under-12 category, Aniket Gaonkar, Suraj Pagi, Animesh Prabugaonkar, Omkar, Sudhirand Saeel Satarkar claimed the first, second ,third, fourth and fifth spot respectively.
In the under-15 category, Venkatesh finished first followed by Ramnath Gaonkar, and Kamesha Velip. In the above 15 years category, Viraj Puranik defeated Punarm Acharya to clinch the title. Saeer Petkar and Sakshi Naik won the second and third place respectively.
