What is your party’s stand on mining?
CHURCHILL ALEMAO: Mamata Bannerjee has promised that a good mining package will be given to the mining affected people in Goa and where the BJP Government and Congress leaders in Goa have failed to deliver the promised Rs 1000 crore, our leader has assured to give ‘double for 2 flowers.’
How will you clear the allegation levelled against you that you are planted by the BJP to divide votes of the Congress, so that it benefits them (BJP)?
I have already clarified this through my various meetings held in South Goa, where there was sizeable crowd. Why will I accept any offer as such from BJP? I am in politics since last four decades and have never done such things in my life. They (BJP and Congress) are afraid that they will lose and I will win, hence they are trying to malign my image. In fact Vijai Sardesai has done fixing with Parrikar to field Reginald and I am contesting on Trinmool Congress, the most secular party in India.
Why do you feel that people will vote for you when there are Congress and BJP candidates?
According to you, both are national parties, but one should understand that even TMC is a national party and Mamata Banerjee the supremo of this party is a mass leader and has done a lot for the nation. I am sure a Federal Front will form the government and TMC will get chance to work for the people. There is chance only for the federal front and the Narendra Modi wave is no(mo) more. BJP’s Modi has done nothing for society. I don’t think people will vote for him.
How was the response from the voters, wherever you moved in the constituency?
To tell you frankly, the response was overwhelming, I have worked for people and hence they love me and they have faith in me. I got very good response from assembly constituencies where BJP MLAs are representing. As a journalist, you must have also come to know about it.
Lok Sabha election is not new to you, what are the major issues you will table at the Centre?
Yes you are correct. I was Member of Parliament twice. Definitely, when I am representing South Goa , my party has already decided that Mopa airport will be scrapped and only Dabolim will be retained. Also my party supremo Mamta Bannerjee has promised that a good mining package will be given to the mining affected people and where the present BJP Government and Congress leaders in Goa could not get the promised Rs 1000 crore, our leader has assured to give double, if we win. Also if needed our party will move to the Supreme Court to resume the legal mining in Goa.
Finally what are your chances of winning?
I am telling you I will definitely win with a thumping majority and May 16 will prove it. I have many voters and friends who have extended their support to me.
