With each passing day the political equations in Goa are becoming unpredictable. And when everyone is throwing their gauntlet in the ring, it looks as if Goans are going to get their homes lit with silver linings”.
But alas! No, the situation so far looks all chaotic and it’s obvious that Goans have been divided like never before. Politically the Goans have become a pack of cards. The cards that are playing into the hands of various political parties knowing too well that it cannot help the very cause of Goa and Goans any more. And its going to be suicidal if voters choose to be just as greedy as ever before to sell their precious vote for a few hundred or thousand rupees or to even a peg of feni or whisky.
Taking advantage of the situation and of course why not, Aam Admi Party has made its intentions clear and even gained sufficient ground. Since then every political party seems to be in a jittery over their progress at ground level. Some of them even have awakened from their deep slumber only to spit venom in some way or the other. Not that I am politically inclined to any political party, but the million dollar question is that why blame and accuse the party that promises some freebies to the people of Goa? Haven’t all other major or minor political parties promised us the moon in the past? And what have they given us instead till date? The potholed road network – the corrupt departments who are just pouncing on the gullible citizens.
The major political parties have made history with their quest to milking the treasury in the guise of Sonsoddo garbage. For decades together no party could solve this garbage imbroglio thus far. And there are no signs of getting it better anymore. The accountability seems to have been thrown to the winds. Just promises galore and in the end people get fooled for next five years. How long are Goans to suffer from political callousness and lethargy? They keep on promising ten thousands of jobs every year, if these promises were any reality by today no Goan would have been left unemployed. It only shows how we are living in the kingdom of fools. And fools we are indeed.
The electricity or the power that we consume is literally hiked every year and in the bargain consumers are harassed with constant power outages. Can’t we not fix this malady and provide uninterrupted power supply? So, when AAP promised Goans of free 300 units everybody jumped the gun to say it’s ill-conceived ideas etc. etc. only to malign the party. Some even mentioned the Delhi party and so on. If one visit of Delhi CM has ruffled so many feathers in the State, Goans may witness a hell of doles from the rest of the parties in the coming months to rattle our minds and souls.
But what Goa needs right now is the unity of the people and not a divisive movement. We want the party that will ensure the growth of our people in a true sense. The party that will henceforth stop killing our fields and hills. We need the roads that will withstand the monsoons and beyond. Let every field that is seen fallow be sown. Let the government take over the fields that are left barren and make the best use of it. Bring accountability in every department. Bring discipline unto the government. Bring in people friendly development and stop pampering the rich and the powerful who have looted Goans thus far.
Unless and until Goans see through with their own eyes wide open and apply their mind, nothing will change for Goa. It will be the same old story, the same old rogues seen in the gallery who will utter no word, bring no change whatsoever. And we shall be just living in the kingdom of fools as before.
