PANJIM: Cuncolim Union eased their way past Goa Police 2-0 in the Geno-Goa Football Association 1st Division League match played at Ambelim ground, on Friday.
Samson Fernandes scored in either half to complete his brace and secure full points.
In the Samson on collecting the ball from midfield covered some ground and shot a 30-yard strike which had no answer from the keeper.
Crossing over, Samson scored once again and this time it was a lay off from the goalkeeper which helped the striker who dribbled down the flank and scored to make it 2-0.
Goa Police came close to scoring but D Fernandes effort hit the post and came back into the play.
Meanwhile, Dempo Sports Club scored a 6-0 victory over United Club of Telaulim in their last league match. The loss meant Telaulim are relegated to the Second Division league as they could manage to collect just 4 points.
Brivan Dias opened the account for Dempo in the 17th minute which turned out to be the only goal of the first 45 minutes.
On resumption, Danstan Fernandes scored in the 46th minute from the spot kick. Velroy Carvalho scored a brace netting a goal each in the 54th and 69th minutes.
Later, Danstan Fernandes went on to complete his hat-trick in the 80th minute before Kidron Fernandes made it 6-0 scoring in the injury time.
