In a distressing incident at Mungaoli railway station in Madhya Pradesh’s Ashok Nagar district, a woman in her 30s was allegedly raped by two men posing as policemen. The incident occurred late on Friday night when the woman and her husband, who had missed their train to Jaipur, were waiting at the station. The couple’s delay was caused by the husband, a habitual drinker, who had left the station in search of alcohol.
According to J L Ahirwar, the in-charge of Ashok Nagar Government Railway Police (GRP) station, two men in civilian clothes, posing as policemen, approached the couple, inquired about their tickets, and engaged in an argument. When asked to show their identity cards, one of the assailants slapped the woman’s husband. Subsequently, one of the accused took the husband away, while the other forced the woman into nearby shrubs and raped her. The assailants then reportedly took turns assaulting her. A case has been registered under section 376 (D) (gang rape) and relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code, and authorities have initiated a manhunt for the unidentified accused.
