Mud and gravel from a mega project in the village of Siolim-Sodiem keep flowing on the road with every shower rendering it slippery. Pedestrians and two-wheeler riders keep falling all over the road and get injured.
Sodiem is a beautiful village but with the coming up of mega projects, these sick sights are common. The high and mighty builders have taken the silence of the voiceless villagers for granted and brazenly continue to do as they like. Neither the village panchayat nor the panch who lives next door has the guts to take on the violators of law and penalise them. Have the villagers elected you to see no evil?
Why do the grassroot level politicians maintain a stoic silence when they see such illegalities galore by the roadside? Is the income for the village panchayat from the builders more precious than the lives of villagers who travel and keep falling along this slippery road?
It is high time the panchayat imposes hefty penalty on the builder and directs him to stop the flow of the mud on the road before precious lives are lost.
