PERNEM: Strongly opposing the move of the organisers of the Sunburn electronic dance music (EDM) festival, Pernem MLA Pravin Arlekar on Wednesday declared that he is with the people and has no hand in the relocation of the event.

Arlekar warned that if the venue of holding the EDM event is not shifted from Dhargalim then he along with the people will take to the streets and oppose it.
Tuesday late evening, the organisers announced the shifting of the ‘controversial’ Sunburn EDM festival at Dhargalim in Pernem taluka from December 28 to 30 this year. For the last few years, the event was held at Vagator.
Addressing a press conference, Arlekar said, “Last night the organisers announced that Sunburn will be held at Dhargalim this year. I want to say that I am against Sunburn. It is not the culture of Pernem. Those who want to bring it to Dhargalim should think of holding it in coastal areas.”

With reference to the news item headlined ‘What’s a Congress MLA doing in a BJP govt committee?’ in the edition dated November 13, 2024, it was erroneously mentioned that after this newspaper called Adv Carlos Ferreira, he hurriedly posted his tweet stating that he would withdraw from the committee constituted by the government to commemorate the 75th year of the Constitution. Ferreira stated that he did not speak to the paper prior to, or after posting the tweet. However the primary facet of the news that a Cong MLA was included in the BJP government’s committee doesn’t change
