Two Uganda nationals arrested with cocaine worth Rs 20.5 lakh

Duo arrived in Goa at Mapusa bus stand from Pune; found in possession of 205 grams of cocaine

MAPUSA: The Mapusa police arrested two Uganda nationals on the charge of possessing narcotic drug suspected to be cocaine, worth around Rs 20.50 lakh in the international market.

The police gave the names of the accused as 29-year-old Sistamo Elvis and 27-year-old Umar Lucwago. Sistamo was found in possession of 103 grams while Umar had 102 grams of suspected cocaine, all totally valued at Rs 20.50 lakh. The duo who stay in Pune were apprehended by the police from new Mapusa bus stand when they landed in the State on Friday late evening. Both the accused have been remanded in police custody by the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC), Mapusa.

Meanwhile, investigation is underway to understand their forward and backward linkages. As per the initial investigation, it has been revealed that the said contraband substance was being brought from Pune to Goa.

The Mapusa Police have registered Crime No. 115/2024 U/Sec the case against both the accused under Section 21 (c) of Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. 

PSI Yeshwant Mandrekar is conducting further investigations.
