Villagers who are petitioners in the matter have been granted permission by the High Court of Bombay at Goa to attend the hearing and also present their say. The matter came before the High Court on Tuesday and was posted for further hearing on October 25.

The petition has been filed in the High Court by Pomburpa villagers Dhirendra Phadte and four others regarding the project stating that the approvals have been given to the project on the basis of Regional Plan 2001 and not on the basis of Regional Plan Goa 2021 which is presently in force.

The residential house and staff quarters project is proposed to be built on 2,490 square metres of land with the zoning of 1,070 square metres from this as a settlement. During one of the hearings, Tahilani had told the High Court that he will not carry out further construction activity at a residential project in Salvador do Mundo village following a plea challenging certain permissions granted for the project.

The residents from Pomburpa-Olaulim village panchayat had challenged the “fraudulent manner” in which technical clearances were granted by the Town and Country Planning (TCP) department to Tahiliani for carrying out development at a property.

The Pomburpa-Olaulim village panchayat had also revoked the stop work order notice to Tahilani. But it triggered protests from the villagers, who marched to the Sarpanch’s residence, expressing their objections and demanding an explanation for the reversal of the stop work order.
