Panjim: Escaped undertrial Suleman Khan alias Siddiqui was brought back to Goa on Monday, but his arrest – he was reportedly detained in Kerala two days back but this was kept under wraps till today – has led to more questions than his capture hopes to answer.

The biggest question was a new video of Siddiqui that went viral on Monday morning, where he says AAP Goa President Amit Palekar influenced him to take names of ruling party ministers and MLAs and police officers in his earlier viral video. But the question on everyone’s minds was how he could send out a video when he was already in police custody two days back. In the evening, he was brought back to the Crime Branch premises in Old Goa, from where he had escaped on December 13. Siddiqui’s wife has also been arrested in a case registered in Mapusa.
Meeting the press in the afternoon, Director General of Police (DGP) Alok Kumar said that the Ernakulam police in Kerala had detained Suleman two days ago. He was staying there with his wife after he fled from Goa. Police have seized 16 bank passbooks and 30 cheque books, multiple Aadhar and PAN cards, over 24 mobile phones, three two- and three four-wheelers from Kerala as well as Karwar.
Though serious charges have been levelled against senior police officials of Crime Branch in his earlier video, DGP Kumar said that this video had not been made a part of the Departmental Inquiry against the cops.
Police said the proceeds of his crimes were used to invest in flats and properties in Karnataka under the name of his wife, Afsana alias Sarika Khan, who was held for a land-grabbing case in Thivim. Siddiqui was nabbed after 14 teams with more than 70 policemen travelled to different states to trace him.
