In a strict enforcement drive, the South Goa Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) inspected 22 hawkers on September 18 and found 13 operating without proper licences. Notices were issued immediately, reflecting the authorities’ zero-tolerance stance on unregulated food businesses.
Seven hawkers were penalised ₹27,000 for unhygienic practices, while three received COTPA challans for failing to display no-smoking boards. Additionally, seven fast-food outlets were inspected, with four ordered to close due to poor hygiene, absence of FSSAI licences, and unsafe food handling practices.
