Mandrem Police Book Man for Resort Impersonation, ₹19.7 Lakh Online Fraud

Mandrem Police have registered a case against a man accused of impersonating the owner of a resort in Ashvem, Mandrem, and fraudulently posting the property’s name and photos online to divert customer bookings.

Between August 21 and September 16, 2025, the accused allegedly created a fake online listing, misleading guests and causing a financial loss of ₹19,69,368 to the resort.

The police have booked the accused under Sections 336(4) and 356 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 66(D) of the Information Technology Act, 2000, read with the IT Amendment Act, 2008. An investigation into the matter is currently underway. Authorities have warned online platform users and property owners to remain vigilant against similar fraudulent activities.
