A youth sustained grievous injuries after losing control of his two-wheeler on a pothole-ridden stretch in Curchorem, exposing the worsening road conditions caused by ongoing sewage pipeline works.
Residents said the roads have been left dug-up and neglected for months, turning daily commutes into a nightmare. The injured youth recounted that the potholes were completely filled with water, making them “invisible” and impossible to avoid. He lost control of his vehicle after hitting one such pothole, suffering serious injuries in the fall.
Locals have accused authorities of inaction and apathy, despite several complaints about the dangerous condition of the stretch. They warned that if immediate repairs are not undertaken, the entire road could become a death trap for motorists.
Citizens have urged the PWD and sewage project contractors to take urgent measures to restore the roads and ensure public safety before more lives are put at risk.
