The face of Dr Umar Nabi, the suspected driver of the white Hyundai i20 that exploded near Delhi’s Red Fort Metro Station on Monday evening, has been revealed through CCTV footage obtained from the blast site.
According to sources, Dr Nabi, a resident of Koil in Pulwama, was seen behind the wheel of the car just minutes before the explosion. CCTV footage shows him wearing a black mask while driving. The visuals were shared with the Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP), who later identified him as Dr Umar Nabi, reportedly associated with the Faridabad terror module.

Investigators have described Dr Nabi as a doctor-turned-terror suspect. He was working as an Assistant Professor at Al-Falah University, Faridabad, and had completed his MBBS from Government Medical College, Srinagar, before relocating to Delhi.
Sources said that Nabi had been absconding for several weeks and was already on the radar of intelligence agencies for his alleged links to a terror network operating out of Faridabad. Preliminary investigations suggest that the Red Fort explosion may have been a Fidayeen (suicide) attack, involving high-grade explosives planted inside the car.
Security agencies are now coordinating with multiple state police departments to trace Dr Nabi’s movements and uncover the broader network connected to the blast.
