Goa Congress Announces Its List of Candidates for Zilla Panchayat Elections

The Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) has released its list of candidates for the upcoming Zilla Panchayat elections in the state, finalising names for several constituencies across North and South Goa

The list, approved by GPCC President Amit Patkar, features a mix of women, OBC representatives and general category candidates, reflecting the party’s effort to ensure broad social representation.

North Goa Zilla Panchayat Candidates

In North Goa, the Congress has fielded Ms Natty Fernandes from Arambol (Women), Smt Priyanka Dabholkar from Morjim (Women–OBC), and Shri Roshan Chodankar from Siolim (General).
Shri Nilesh Kambli will contest from Sirsai, while Shri Glen Cabral has been named for Corlim (General).
For St Lawrence, the party has nominated Smt Ujwala Santosh Naik under the Women (OBC) category.

South Goa Zilla Panchayat Candidates

In South Goa, the party has announced Shri Anthony Cedley Braganza as its candidate from Nuvem (OBC), while Smt Venicia Calista Carvalho will represent Colva in the General category.
Smt Luiza Pereira e Rodrigues has been named for Benaulim, and Shri Floriano Fernandes will contest from Davorlim under OBC.
For Navelim, the party has chosen Ms Melifa Cardozo (Women–OBC), while Shri Dinanath R. Gaonkar has been nominated from Darbandora (General).

GPCC President Amit Patkar said the remaining names would be announced shortly, adding that the party is committed to fielding candidates who can “deliver transparent, grassroots-level governance.”

The Zilla Panchayat elections are expected to set the tone for the political climate ahead of the next assembly polls, with all major parties eyeing strong performances.
