The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has ordered immediate on-site inspections at eleven airports across India after large-scale disruptions in IndiGo’s operations caused severe inconvenience to passengers. The airports identified for urgent checks are Nagpur, Jaipur, Bhopal, Surat, Tirupati, Vijayawada, Shirdi, Cochin, Lucknow, Amritsar and Dehradun. Officials have been directed to visit these airports within the next two to three days and submit a detailed report to the regulator within 24 hours of completing their inspections.
According to the order, the inspections will focus on safety preparedness, operational readiness and the quality of passenger facilitation during the ongoing disruption. Authorities will closely review the extent of flight delays and cancellations, congestion in terminal areas, the management of queues at check-in counters, security checkpoints and boarding gates, as well as the adequacy of operational manpower deployed by both IndiGo and the respective airport operators.

DGCA’s move comes amid growing public frustration over repeated delays, cancellations and poor crowd management at several airports handling IndiGo flights.
