RAIA: United Boys of Ambaulim advanced into the semi-finals of 8th Martin’s Cup defeating Parish Youth Nuvem 2-0 in the quarter-final match played at panchayat ground, Betalbatim, on Sunday.
The match started on a promising note and in the first quarter PY Nuvem had the opportunity to score but failed and before the half time UB Ambaulim created a counter attack and Alex Fernandes fed the ball to Sowell Fernandes whose shot directly into the arms of goalkeeper.
Both teams remained 0-0 draw at half time.
Post resumption, both teams tried to take control of the game to find the lead. In the 41st minute, Alex’s left footer from the box beat the PY Nuvem goalkeeper and entered into the net. Dylan Carvalho doubled the lead in the 48th minute from a corner kick which was beautifully headed into the far corner of the net.
In the injury time, Albino Pereira of PY Nuvem ran down and beat the goalkeeper and took a shot which hit the side pole and went out of play.
