The Bombay High Court has disposed of a petition concerning the illegal portion of Nazri Beach Resort in Calangute after Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority (GCZMA) failed to carry out the demolition as directed.
During the hearing, the resort’s owner and BJP MLA Michael Lobo informed the court that he would undertake the demolition of the unauthorised structure himself and complete the process by May 31.

The assurance was recorded by the court, following which the bench closed the petition related to the non-execution of the demolition order by the GCZMA.
The matter pertains to violations of coastal regulation norms at the popular beachside property. The High Court had earlier issued directions for removal of the illegal portion, but with the authority unable to execute the order, the responsibility has now been taken over by the owner.
With Lobo’s undertaking on record, the court expects compliance within the stipulated timeframe. Any failure to honour the commitment could invite further legal action.
