Arvind Kejriwal, National Convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), has extended full support to the ongoing movement against Section 39(A) of the Town and Country Planning (TCP) Act in Goa and demanded that the provision be scrapped.
Addressing a gathering during the launch of an E-library in the Benaulim constituency, Kejriwal called for the immediate convening of a special session of the Goa Legislative Assembly to discuss and repeal Section 39(A). He stated that concerns raised by citizens and activists must be taken seriously and addressed through legislative action.
Kejriwal emphasised that the government should respond transparently to public apprehensions surrounding the provision and ensure that development policies safeguard the interests of local communities.
His remarks come amid sustained protests in parts of Goa, with demonstrators seeking the rollback of Section 39(A) and greater accountability in planning decisions.
