The traditional Homkund festival at Borde–Dicholi was celebrated with great enthusiasm and devotion, drawing participation from villagers and devotees.
As part of the ritual, the Dhondgans of Borde performed the traditional fire-walking ceremony to fulfil their vows. Nearly 60 to 70 Dhondgans from Dicholi observe a strict five-day fast before taking part in the sacred ritual. The vow is completed by entering the Agnidivya on the third day after the full moon during the month of Phalgun.
Agnidivya, also known as the Homkund, involves lighting a carefully arranged pile of wood which is allowed to burn completely. Once the flames subside, devotees walk barefoot across the glowing embers as part of the ritual, symbolising faith and devotion.
Every year, the Homkund festival is conducted with great fervour, with Dhondgans of all ages—from young participants to elders—taking part in the fire-walking ritual. Residents of Borde village and surrounding areas also gather in large numbers to witness and participate in the annual religious event.
