The Colvale police arrested a 23-year-old woman on the charge of supplying narcotics to an undertrial at the Central Jail, Colvale on Friday evening.
The police identified the accused as Tanvi Polji alias Tanvi Akshay Bhomkar, a resident of Vantem, Advoi, Honda in Sattari and presently residing in Mapusa.
The woman had gone to meet her friend Sunil Madkaikar, who is an undertrial prisoner at the Central Jail, Colvale, where she allegedly gave a narcotic substance to him suspected to be hashish oil weighing 10 grams, worth approximately Rs 10,000. The drugs were later attached under a panchanama.
Based on a complaint filed by Deputy Superintendent of Central Jail, Colvale, Datta Kudchadkar, the Colvale police registered a case against the woman under Sections 20(b)(ii)(A) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
