India on Saturday said it is closely monitoring the evolving situation in West Asia, particularly with regard to the safety and well-being of Indian citizens stranded in the region.
In a late-night statement, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said that more than 52,000 Indians have already returned to the country following the partial reopening of airspace across parts of the region.

The ministry also advised Indian nationals currently in West Asia to strictly follow the guidelines issued by local authorities as well as the advisories released by Indian diplomatic missions.
“The safety and welfare of Indian nationals abroad remains the government’s utmost priority,” the MEA said in its statement.
The ministry further noted that the government continues to remain in close contact with authorities across the region to facilitate assistance and support for Indians who may require help amid the ongoing situation.
