Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday assured that India will leave no citizen behind in the conflict-hit Middle East, stating that the government remains committed to ensuring the safety and evacuation of Indians from troubled regions.
Speaking at an event in Kerala, Modi acknowledged concerns among families of Indians working in Gulf and West Asian countries amid rising tensions in the region. However, he said the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance government has consistently taken strong steps to bring Indian citizens home safely from crisis zones.

“Whenever any of our fellow citizens has been in trouble, we have used all our might to save them and bring them back safely,” the Prime Minister said.
Highlighting past rescue efforts, Modi referred to operations carried out by India to evacuate citizens from conflict areas. He recalled the rescue of Indian nurses stranded during violence in Iraq and the efforts to secure the release of Father Tom Uzhunnalil from terrorists in Yemen.
“Today’s India does not abandon its citizens in times of crisis,” he said, stressing that the government stands firmly with Indians living or working abroad.
The Prime Minister also mentioned that the government had successfully brought back Father Alexis Premkumar after he was abducted in Afghanistan, describing it as another example of India’s commitment to protecting its citizens overseas.
Modi’s remarks come at a time when escalating tensions in parts of the Middle East have raised concerns for the large Indian diaspora working across the Gulf and West Asia. The Prime Minister assured that the government is closely monitoring the situation and will take all necessary steps to safeguard Indian nationals.
