Proceedings in the Goa Legislative Assembly were disrupted on Friday after Opposition members entered the Well of the House and raised slogans while demanding to know why the Goa Protection for Agriculture Bill was not being allowed to be taken up.
As the protests intensified, Speaker Ganesh Gaonkar urged members to maintain order and allow him to address the House. “This is not democracy; you need to allow the Speaker to address,” Gaonkar said while appealing for calm.
However, Opposition legislators continued their protest, shouting slogans of “Karo Ya Maro” while pressing for answers regarding the bill.
With the uproar continuing and normal proceedings unable to resume, the Speaker adjourned the House for another 30 minutes.
