Vasco Advocates Seek Two Seats for Goa in Bar Council Polls; Demand Strict Action in Attack on Lawyer

The Vasco Advocates Association has demanded that the Bar Council of India ensure two dedicated representations for Goa in the upcoming elections to the Bar Council of Maharashtra and Goa scheduled in March.

Addressing the issue, association president and senior lawyer Dileshwar Naik said Goa should have adequate representation in the council considering the growing number of advocates in the state.

Naik also welcomed the decision of the Government of Goa to approve the Goa Advocate Protection Bill 2026, stating that the legislation would provide legal safeguards and protection to members of the legal fraternity.

At the same time, he strongly condemned the recent attack on advocate Adv Vaigankar and called for strict action against those responsible.

He urged the police to take the assault case to its logical conclusion by filing a chargesheet against the accused involved in the attack and ensuring that justice is delivered.
