A thick blanket of fog and persistent cloud cover engulfed New Delhi in the early hours of Saturday, following an unusually cold spell triggered by heavy rainfall across the city and adjoining NCR regions.
According to observations recorded at the Safdarjung Observatory, the temperature stood at 14°C around 7:20 am, with humidity levels reaching 100 per cent, resulting in misty and low-visibility conditions across several parts of the capital.

The sudden dip in temperature comes a day after Delhi recorded its coldest March day in six years, marking a rare weather anomaly for this time of the year.
Despite the prevailing foggy conditions, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has not issued any weather alerts for Delhi-NCR for Saturday, indicating no immediate severe weather concerns.
However, the unusual weather pattern has brought a brief respite from rising temperatures, even as experts expect conditions to gradually return to seasonal norms in the coming days.
