Several petrol pumps in Ahmedabad and Rajkot were reported non-operational this morning, causing panic among motorists amid global tensions in West Asia. Fears of a fuel shortage spread quickly, with long queues forming at operational stations.
The Federation of Gujarat Petroleum Dealers Association (FGPDA) stepped in to clarify that there is no actual shortage of petrol or diesel. General Secretary Dhimant Ghelani assured citizens that sufficient fuel stock is available across the state and requested people not to panic or hoard fuel unnecessarily.

Officials explained that temporary disruptions were caused by supply chain delays due to recent holidays, which affected timely distribution. They expect the situation to normalize within the week.
To ensure smooth supply, the FGPDA coordinated with Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), which introduced adjustments in lifting norms, allowing dealers to collectively procure larger quantities of fuel. Technical and operational issues at dealer levels are being addressed to prevent future interruptions.
Ghelani emphasized that rumours often trigger panic buying, creating artificial shortages and long queues. He urged citizens to rely only on verified information and avoid unnecessary stocking of fuel. IOC officials also confirmed that fuel availability across Gujarat remains stable and efficiently managed.
By maintaining coordination with dealers and oil companies, authorities aim to provide uninterrupted fuel supply while addressing operational challenges and ensuring public convenience.
