New Delhi: Residents of Delhi experienced cloudy skies and intermittent spells of rain on Tuesday, even as temperatures remained above seasonal averages. The city continues to remain under a yellow alert issued by the India Meteorological Department.
The weather department has forecast generally overcast conditions with very light to light rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty surface winds ranging between 20–30 kmph, with speeds potentially reaching up to 40 kmph during the evening and night.
Rainfall activity was recorded across several monitoring stations between 2:30 pm and 5:30 pm. Safdarjung reported 2.1 mm of rainfall, while Palam recorded 2.6 mm. Lodi Road received 2.8 mm, Ridge 2.4 mm, and Ayanagar logged 2.2 mm. Among other areas, Janakpuri registered the highest rainfall at 4 mm, followed by Pusa and Mayur Vihar with 2 mm each, and Pitampura at 1.5 mm.
Despite the rainfall, temperatures remained above normal across the capital. Safdarjung recorded a maximum temperature of 33.7 degrees Celsius, while Palam and Lodi Road both reported 33.2 degrees. Ridge saw a high of 33.9 degrees, and Ayanagar recorded 33.8 degrees Celsius.
Authorities have advised residents to stay updated with weather developments as fluctuating conditions are expected to persist over the coming days.
