North Goa Issues Heatwave Advisory: Collector Ankit Yadav Orders Urgent Preparedness Measures

In response to rising temperatures, Ankit Yadav, who also chairs the District Disaster Management Authority, has issued a comprehensive heatwave advisory directing all departments to enhance preparedness and public safety measures across North Goa.

Authorities have been instructed to prominently display heat alerts in public areas and ensure the availability of drinking water facilities. Health centres are to maintain adequate stocks of oral rehydration salts (ORS) to treat heat-related illnesses effectively.

The advisory also calls for the establishment of cooling kiosks in key locations and recommends rescheduling outdoor work to avoid peak heat hours, particularly to protect labourers and field staff. Public awareness campaigns are to be intensified to educate citizens on heatwave precautions.

Special emphasis has been placed on maintaining uninterrupted power supply to critical services, while ensuring shaded arrangements at bus stops, public places, and for on-duty personnel such as police officers.

The move comes as temperatures continue to climb, with officials aiming to minimise health risks and ensure coordinated action across departments during the heatwave period.
