The demand for premium seasonal fruits in Goa has received a boost with a new doorstep delivery initiative for Alphonso Mango. Through a service launched by India Post, residents can now order fresh Ratnagiri Alphonso mangoes directly from farms and have them delivered to their homes.
The initiative aims to bridge the gap between farmers and consumers by leveraging the extensive postal network. Officials stated that the move is designed to ensure that customers receive high-quality mangoes sourced straight from orchards, maintaining freshness while keeping delivery costs reasonable. Each box, containing approximately two dozen mangoes, is priced at ₹1,550, making it a convenient option for mango lovers during the peak season.
The service also includes provisions for customer satisfaction, with replacement promised in cases where the fruit is damaged or spoiled during transit. Authorities highlighted that this builds on a similar campaign conducted last year, which saw a positive response with hundreds of boxes successfully delivered across the state.
With the growing popularity of online and remote ordering, this initiative is expected to further streamline access to one of India’s most sought-after fruits. For Goans, it offers both convenience and assurance of quality, while also supporting mango growers by expanding their market reach beyond traditional channels.
