Truck Suffers Brake Failure Near Anjuna, Crashes Into Poles and Tree; No Injuries Reported

A major self-accident involving a truck loaded with concrete material was reported on the steep Siolim–Vagator road near the Assagao–Anjuna stretch on Friday.

According to the driver, the vehicle suffered a brake failure while descending the slope. Despite switching off the engine, the truck continued to gain speed due to the steep gradient, creating a dangerous situation.

Sensing the risk, the driver alerted pedestrians and bystanders by shouting, enabling them to move to safety in time.

As the truck neared Anjuna, another vehicle approached from the opposite direction. In an effort to avoid a head-on collision, the driver swerved off the road, crashing into two electricity poles and a roadside tree.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident. However, the truck was extensively damaged, and the electricity poles sustained significant damage.

The driver later informed the Goa Police, following which PSI Sahil Warang reached the spot along with police personnel. A panchnama was conducted, and further investigation is underway.

Anjuna Panch member Sudesh Parsekar also visited the site and briefed the media on the incident.
