Authorities in Goa have issued a heatwave alert as temperatures continue to climb across the state. The State Disaster Management Authority and Revenue Department have advised residents to take necessary precautions to avoid heat-related illnesses. People are encouraged to stay hydrated, wear light cotton clothing, and limit outdoor exposure, especially during peak afternoon hours between 12 pm and 3 pm.
Officials have also recommended consuming fluids such as ORS, coconut water, and buttermilk to prevent dehydration. Special care is being urged for vulnerable groups, including outdoor workers, pregnant women, and individuals with pre-existing health conditions. Citizens are advised to avoid strenuous activities during the hottest part of the day.
The advisory also highlights the importance of protecting animals and birds by ensuring access to water and shade. Additionally, parents have been cautioned not to leave children or pets unattended in parked vehicles. Residents are urged to stay updated and seek medical help if needed.
