The Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) has called for the immediate implementation of the Women’s Reservation Bill, 2023, urging the government to act without delay.
Addressing the issue, Anjali Nimbalkar said it is widely known that the bill has already been passed in the Rajya Sabha. She emphasised that the opposition is demanding its enforcement within the existing 543 seats, questioning why the government has not moved forward with its implementation in Parliament.
Nimbalkar further stated that all opposition parties are willing to support the legislation if it is brought forward, highlighting the need for political will to ensure greater representation of women in governance.
The demand adds to the ongoing debate over women’s political representation and the timeline for enforcing the landmark legislation.
