Major Drug Kingpin Caught
Salim Dola (59), close aide of gangster Dawood Ibrahim and key drug lord, was deported to India early Tuesday from Turkey. Turkish Intelligence and Beylikduzu police detained him Saturday based on Indian agency inputs.
Interpol Red Notice
Dola faces CBI-facilitated extradition after Interpol’s Red Corner Notice. Mumbai Police and NCB want him in multiple drug cases. The Dongri resident ran Dawood’s drug network, recently entering mephedrone manufacturing across states.
Decades-Long Fugitive
Active since the 1980s, Dola jumped bail in 2018 after prior arrests by DRI, Mumbai Police, and NCB. Linked to 2024’s 126kg mephedrone seizure, his Turkey operations traced back to Maharashtra-Dubai chains.
Interrogation Awaits
Agencies will hand Dola to NCB or Mumbai Police for questioning on his three-decade syndicate spanning Middle East, Africa, and Europe. CBI expected to issue statement Tuesday afternoon.
