South Goa MP Viriato Fernandes criticised the execution of the work, alleging that an unscientific method had been adopted to save time and money without proper planning or technical investigation.

Former councillor Nilesh Narvekar also said that concerns regarding the work had been raised earlier. According to him, a letter was submitted to authorities on April 30 warning about the potential danger.

Narvekar added that during a previous inspection conducted with officials from the Forest Department and the Public Works Department (PWD), they had cautioned authorities that the ongoing work at the site posed safety risks.
