The Bharatiya Janata Party’s Goa unit has submitted a memorandum to the Chief Electoral Officer, urging the immediate implementation of Scheduled Tribe (ST) reservation in the Goa Legislative Assembly before the 2027 Assembly elections.
In its representation, the party called upon the Election Commission of India (ECI) and the Central Government to expedite the delimitation process required for introducing reserved constituencies for Scheduled Tribes in the state.

The BJP stated that the move is essential to ensure adequate political representation for Goa’s tribal community, which has long sought reserved seats in the Legislative Assembly following the granting of Scheduled Tribe status to several communities in the state.
Party leaders emphasized that the implementation of ST reservation would strengthen democratic participation and provide tribal communities with a greater voice in the state’s legislative and policy-making processes.
The memorandum urges authorities to complete the necessary legal and administrative procedures at the earliest so that the reservation framework can be put in place ahead of the next Assembly elections scheduled for 2027.
