Chief Minister announces revival of 18,000 hectares of khazan land and introduction of a waste management technical course in ITIs.
Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Thursday launched the Clean Goa Green Goa campaign and announced an ambitious target of planting 10 lakh trees across the state within the next 90 days.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister appealed to citizens to actively participate in the initiative and help create a green corridor across Goa. He assured that the government is prepared to provide fruit-bearing saplings and seeds to encourage large-scale public participation in the plantation drive.
Highlighting Goa’s environmental achievements, Sawant stated that the state remains the only one in India with nearly 61 per cent of its geographical area under forest cover. He emphasized the government’s commitment to preserving and enhancing Goa’s green landscape through sustained conservation efforts.
The Chief Minister also announced plans to revive approximately 18,000 hectares of khazan land across the state. He said the government has already signed an agreement with experts to undertake the restoration project, which is expected to boost agricultural productivity and strengthen ecological sustainability.
In another major announcement, Sawant revealed that Goa will become the first state in the country to introduce a dedicated Waste Management Technical Course in Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs). The initiative aims to create a skilled workforce for the waste management sector while promoting sustainable environmental practices and scientific waste disposal methods.
The Clean Goa Green Goa campaign forms part of the state’s broader strategy to enhance environmental conservation, strengthen waste management systems, and encourage community participation in building a greener and cleaner Goa.
