The devastating fire that claimed three lives in a residential building in Delhi’s Tughlakabad area last Friday was a planned act of arson linked to a financial dispute between two cousins, police investigations have revealed.
Authorities have arrested three individuals — Niranjan (33), his brother Rajkumar (27), and Sarita (27) — in connection with the incident. A 17-year-old girl has also been detained for her alleged involvement. According to police, the woman and the minor were reportedly in relationships with the two accused men.

Investigators said the teenage girl confessed to setting a scooter parked on the ground floor ablaze shortly after midnight on June 12. The flames quickly spread through the building, reaching the fifth floor and engulfing the structure within a short span.
Emergency responders rescued eight occupants from the building and shifted them to nearby hospitals for treatment. However, three victims — identified as Pankaj, Sushila Devi, and Sonia Kumari — later succumbed to their injuries.
Police are continuing their investigation into the case, which they believe was motivated by a personal financial conflict that escalated into a fatal act of arson.
