What has particularly drawn attention is that the site is situated alongside the busy Benaulim–Margao main road, making the activity clearly visible to the public. Despite this, concerns have been raised over the absence of any visible action or official statement from the Benaulim Village Panchayat regarding the alleged violation.

Questions have also been raised over the silence of the local MLA, with residents expressing disappointment over the lack of public response on an issue that could have significant environmental implications.

Locals and environmental advocates have called for immediate intervention by the concerned authorities, demanding a thorough inquiry into the alleged illegal filling of the water body and strict action if any violations are found. They have also urged greater transparency and accountability to safeguard ecologically sensitive areas from encroachment and environmental degradation.
