Sanguem: Municipal Councillor Meshu D’Costa staged a road blockade at Bendwada in Sanguem, protesting against severe waterlogging in the area caused by ongoing bridge construction work.
Speaking to the media, D’Costa alleged that the department responsible for the project had failed to provide adequate drainage facilities alongside the construction site. He claimed that the absence of proper gutters has resulted in rainwater and surface runoff accumulating in the area, leading to flooding and inconvenience for residents and motorists.
The councillor expressed concern over the hardships faced by locals due to the waterlogged conditions and urged authorities to address the issue without delay.
D’Costa demanded immediate intervention from the concerned department to install an effective drainage system and ensure that the bridge construction project does not adversely impact the daily lives of people living in Bendwada and nearby areas.
Residents have also voiced concerns over the situation, calling for swift corrective measures to prevent further flooding during the ongoing monsoon season.
