Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday alleged that Goa’s healthcare system has collapsed, accusing the state government of failing to provide adequate medical facilities to residents.
Addressing the media, Kejriwal claimed that Goa Medical College (GMC) is overcrowded, forcing many patients to travel long distances in search of treatment.
He also alleged that the Institute of Psychiatry and Human Behaviour (IPHB), popularly known as the ID Hospital in Ponda, lacks essential medical equipment and has non-functional lifts, causing hardship and inconvenience to patients and their families.
Kejriwal further criticised the Deen Dayal Swasthya Seva Yojana (DDSY), alleging that the scheme does not provide adequate healthcare coverage for Goan families.
As an alternative, the AAP leader urged the Goa government to adopt Punjab’s healthcare model. He claimed that the Punjab model provides health insurance coverage of up to ₹10 lakh per family and includes treatment for a broader range of diseases.
The BJP-led Goa government has not yet responded to Kejriwal’s allegations.
