PONDA: Claiming that the PWD labour supply society recruited contract labourers “illegally”, a resident of Ponda has urged the Directorate of Vigilance to conduct an inquiry into the matter.
In his complaint, Nilesh D’Souza from Silvanagar-Ponda claimed that apart from illegal appointments, there are numerous labourers listed as “missing labourers”.
“The PWD labour supply society is engaged in illegal appointments of contract labourers in PWD in various parts of the State,” alleged D’Souza.
“It is surprising that when information was sought under the RTI Act about the recent appointment of contract labourers from the PWD office at Altinho, it was revealed that numerous labourers are listed as missing labourers,” stated the complaint without mentioning the number of missing labourers.
